MOM, DON’T READ THIS POST!
If you’re still reading, Mom, you’ve been warned. And I know how you HATE Christmas present spoilers.
This year, I planned on hand-making all of my Christmas gifts. But then I realized how much time that would take (in the midst of trying to move into a new apartment), and I broke down and dropped a hundred bucks on Christmas gifts.
However, I already had a good idea and all of the materials for my mom’s handmade gift. My mom loves books and she is constantly making plans with friends/family/new acquaintances. She also tends to lose things (sorry, Mom, but it’s true). So I thought, “Hey, why not make her a day planner where she can write in the dates?” This way if she loses the book for a few weeks, she can flip to a new week and not waste a lot of pages.
I made the cover with a vintage coloring page that I found at the quilting website, Q is for Quilter. I got out my trusty Crayola 48 pack, called on my kindergarten skills, and scanned the coloring so that I could keep the look without the waxy crayon feel.
I used a little modpodge to keep the lion in place on top of the paper that I used to cover the book board.
The day planner template is absolutely awesome as is, but since my brain couldn’t figure out how to bind the pages in the correct order–so that the days of the week appeared as they are supposed to–I edited the template so that no days at all are showing. They can be written in the blank boxes at the top of the column. Check at the original template here: http://www.myloveforwords.com/2014-day-planner/
